BEGINNING AND ENDING KNOTS ON THE LAST WARPS

The double warps inside the side selvage cords are the outermost ones on both sides of the warp . They are the first and last ones which the starting and ending knots were tied onto in the warping process. They become paired as one warp string; do not separate them.

Pull the loosely hanging ends of the starting and ending warps up and secure them to the top dowel. Tie them to the top dowel or wrap the excess tail ends around it before taping them down. That will prevent the starting and ending knots from slipping down as you weave, which can cause the neighboring warps to loosen. If you do not want the knotted warps to get stuck to the female heddle warp ends, untie each knot and secure it to the metal tension bar.

The doubled warps at each end and the side selvage cords add an extra layer of strength to the sides of the textile and allow for straighter woven edges as you weave .
